What Is Intuitive Eating? What Does It Mean To You?

Intuitive eating is a term used to describe the way of eating that allows you to tune in to your body and make food choices that feel good for your individual needs. It’s been practiced for thousands of years but has recently become more mainstream and accepted. This can be attributed to the Internet, which has made it easier to learn about intuitive eating and even share experiences with others.

Intuitive eating is sometimes also called a “non-diet” because you don’t have to limit what you eat and how much you eat. You can do this by slowing down and truly listening to your body. Here are some ways that intuitive eating has helped me in my life.

What Is Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive eating is a way of eating that allows you to tune in to your body and make food choices that feel good for your individual needs. It’s been practiced for thousands of years but has recently become more mainstream and accepted. This can be attributed to the Internet, which has made it easier to learn about intuitive eating and even share experiences with others.

It is often used as an alternative to dieting because it doesn’t restrict what you eat or how much you eat. You should also avoid counting calories and weigh yourself too often. Instead, try listening to your body when you’re hungry and when you’re full.

Here are some ways that intuitive eating has helped me in my life:

  • I am able to listen to my body better
  • I’m more in tune with what I need at the moment

How Does It Help Me?

When I’ve been intuitive, there’s been a lot less guilt around food. I’m not afraid to be adventurous with my tastes and what I eat is more enjoyable because it’s not so rigid; it’s slow and in tune with my body.

Intuitive eating also helps me make better choices because I know how my body responds to certain foods. It also makes dieting easier because it doesn’t feel like a restrictive lifestyle. If you’re an intuitive eater, you’ll find your experience is different from someone who follows the “rules” for good health or weight loss.

How to Start Intuitively Eating

The first thing you need to know is that intuitive eating is not just about food. Intuitive eating also means being mindful of your emotions and how they may affect your body’s appetite. It’s important that you’re able to tune in and be aware of what your body is telling you when you are hungry or full so that you can make the best choices for yourself. Here are some ways I like to start intuitively eating:

  1. Start by learning about how different foods affect different people differently. What feels better for you? What has helped others? If a certain food makes your stomachache, then it might not be the best option for you right now; if it doesn’t make your stomachache, then it could be an option.
  2. Learn more about dietary restrictions. For example, while some people don’t eat animal products at all, others may choose to limit the amount of animal products they eat throughout the week or avoid meat altogether due to religious beliefs or personal preferences. Learn more about why other people choose these decisions and what benefits they get from them in their lives.
